Vercelli...

With he usual attention given to less predictable places, the "Branduardly-Planet" does not abandon Piedmont and this time leads us to the discovery of Vercelli, a city of art, culture and miraculous interludes between a storm of rain and the other . First of all, the Cathedral of St. Andrew, on whose churchyard will be hosted the Orchestra Camerata Ducale and Angelo Branduardi, is an imposing masterpiece of Romanesque art, harmoniously interwoven with gothic elements that keeps intact the lovely medieval atmosphere thanks to targeted interventions of restoration that has not upset the original architecture. Inside the sacristy, a few steps from where the Guelphs and Ghibellines of Vercelli signed the peace treaty, welcomes us a quiet Branduardi, smiling and vaguely bantered. We chat about "Pierino e il lupo", Vercelli, the orchestra and, of course, the B-ans ;-) ...

....Not having ever seen this show we prefer to enjoy the surprise, so we walk towards the historic centre of Vercelli advantaged by a timid ray of sunshine and a providential aperitif, but, as expected, almost responding to a silent recall, our steps go back towards roads already wandered, up to hear the music ... this is the stage and the last part of the sound check....

...When the show begins, the clouds have already taken steps to hide the dots of bright of the stars, and mosquitoes, heedless of the cold, play spitefully between the absorbed faces of the public (but how they use to do, the people of Vercelli !!!????). At the sound of the orchestra that leads us through the events of Pierino, the face of Branduardi comes alive.

...Once it is carefree Pierino walking across the woods following with eyes the flight of birds; once is the "poor, stupid" gabbling duck attempting to escape, but in vain, from the wolf; once is the wise and gruff grandfather that gives instructions to Pierino to become a good hunter, once is the crafty cat, to whom nothing escapes ... and then becomes the evil wolf that is finally caught. Everything ends with the triumphant notes of the march accompanying Pierino. Branduardi, as always, has enchanted his audience. At the end of the evening, with a great applause, the final surprise: the universal notes of "Alla Fiera dell'Est" and "la pulce d'acqua" arranged by the orchestra. It's an apotheosis!
